Seeming to pick up where the Buckda-blog left off, here's some BCD trivia for ya. :)

* Originally, BCD was going to be entitled Along the Road. I can't remember what made me change my mind about that, but I still kick myself to this day over it.

* The first character to be created was that of Logan Easton, Phoenix's very short lived assistant and Nina's suitor. He was also the first major character to be written out.

* The most recasted character has been Micah, with three different people representing him: David Mason Daniels (1998), Jeffrey Konigsberg (1998-2003) and Michael Rodrick (2003-present).

* Other characters that have been recasted are Trent (Kerr Smith in the original blue prints; Don Jeffcoat since April, 1998), Andy (Michael Park from 1998-1999; Michael Dietz from 1999-present) and Stacey (Joni Allen from 1998-1999; Sarah Aldrich from 1999-present).

* When it was originally conceived, BCD was supposed to span two months of written work, then wrap everything up in a nice, little package. Needless to say, that one didn't happen!

* Once, in early 2000, I committed a storyline sin so terrible that I ripped out four months (four whole months) of material and rewrote them. Nothing was salvaged. It all had to go. The storyline was so grievous I won't bear to repeat it. Just know this: had I gone through with it, BCD would have been undeniably altered.

* My favorite CD to listen to while writing is Out of the Grey's Remember This collection. It is so soothing and it puts me in a wonderful creative mood.

Storylines that never were:

* Originally, Tony and Kathy (his first wife) were supposed to get back together, but I realized that he and Kristen had far more potential. Also, it staged what was probably our best (and, to date, only) love triangle.

* I intended for Frankie and Serena to get together, even sticking little inside jokes into the story about her search for "Mr. Right." (Get it?) Ultimately, though, I decided to put him with Mel instead.

* Believe it or not, Perry Sparks (JLN's troublesome new artist) was supposed to be a nice guy originally. It was his wife Gwen that was the uncontrollable bitch.

* When I backburnered Andy and Stacey in early 1999, I was intending to kill them both in a freak car accident (one that mirrored the same one their daughter Dinah was killed in), but thought that was too cruel, even for someone as sadistic as myself. Instead, I recast the roles and brought them back in.

* For the first anniversary of BCD, I was planning on someone (I will not say who) reaching the end of their rope and shooting someone else. I even had it written out. I came to my senses, though, and both are still alive, well and co-existing these days.

Silliness of early BCD:

* Way back when BCD was still just a two month project, I planned on killing just about everyone (see my Buckdablog for more info on that). But you wanna hear my all-time stupidest idea from those days? I can't believe I'm really gonna admit this... but here goes: Frankie was supposed to die in a fire, toward the end of the show. Mel, of course, would be heartbroken by that, as the groundwork for their romance was laid far in advance. Then... oh, Lord, this is bad... he would actually pay her a visit and reveal to her that he wasn't who she thought he was... he was an... ANGEL! Yes, you read that right. I am hanging my head right now. Not exactly one of my best ideas.
